Renovation of a mixed-use development in Altavista, Virginia. Completed plans call for the renovation of a 6,246-square-foot fire / police facility; and municipal facility.
Spark Innovation Center Renovation project. The Scope of Work includes the complete renovation of the old fire station located at 508 7th Street into a makerspace. The work on the exterior includes removing exterior siding and replacing with new fiber cement siding, including the soffits. The existing windows will be painted and caulked in the Base Bid, with an Alternate for replacing them. There are Alternates for the replacement of the roof and other items. The work on the interior includes the construction of several offices, 2 conference rooms, a creative space, 2 toilets and a reconfigured mechanical/ electrical room. Some of the areas will have new acoustical ceilings installed, while the majority of the space will have exposed structure. There are some asbestos containing materials that will be abated. SWaM certified, small business, women owned and minority businesses are encouraged to bid. The Town of Altavista is an Equal Opportunity Employer. Major Work Tasks 1.
