As of April 2025 this project has not yet begun construction, but renovations are expected to begin after the legislative sessions end in 2025. Packages are currently being bid for different trades by the construction manager. The Commonwealth of Kentucky, represented by the Division of Engineering and Contract Administration, Department for Facilities and Support Services, Finance and Administration Cabinet (DECA) is seeking the services of an experienced and highly qualified Construction Management/ General Contractor firm to provide construction management and general contractor services on the proposed project. The Construction Manager/ General Contractor (CM/GC) selected will become a responsible, cooperative and contributing member of the Owner’s professional team for the design review and construction of the project. The Construction Manager/ General Contractor (CM/GC) will provide assistance and advice and provide management services to the Owner, Using Agency and Consultants to assure the project is completed within the defined budget, program and schedule There is a possibility that the construction of the building as indicated in the exhibits will be implemented in multiple bid packs staged to take advantage of fast-tracking and/or Phasing the construction. The decision to fast-track or phase construction will be a joint decision by the A/E, the CM/GC and the Owner. This project currently has an approved budget of $26,500,000. This funding is comprised of two separate authorizations from the KY State Legislature. The first is a $4.5 million authorization in the 2018-2020 biennium entitled Upgrade Capitol Mechanical and Electrical System, Phase I. The second is a $22 million authorization in the 2020-2021 budget entitled Capitol Campus Upgrades. Additional funding will be requested in future legislative sessions. The Commonwealth reserves the right to add any future approved budgets to the scope of this contract
