Renovation of a fire / police facility in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Conceptual plans call for the renovation of a fire / police facility.
* No compliant bidders. This project is to replace all the obsolete smoke detectors that are not entirely compatible with the new fire panel throughout the building. This required special programming that was installed in order for the panel to work with the old detectors. This issue is sketchy at best and causes a lot of maintenance alerts which are called into the NSCC at all hours of the day and night. Currently, from time to time a smoke detector will not respond back to the fire panel correctly which causes an alert. This happens all over the building at random times. Sometimes Tyco can fix it and other times we need both Tyco and Chubb. These current smoke detectors are no longer manufactured but there seems to be plenty of stock. Smoke and Heat Detectors: the objective is the planned replacement of about 172 fire detectors and 17 duct smoke detectors throughout the facility.
