The work comprises all activities associated with the removal and off-site disposal of impacted soil, miscellaneous debris (broken glass, cans, drums, metal and construction debris) and asbestos containing debris previously identified on-site. Area of Environmental Concern (AEC) include the following: -AEC 1- Coal Dust Piles. The coal which was reportedly used to heat the buildings was historically placed in piles in front of the residences prior to use. Soil samples collected and submitted for laboratory analysis identified petroleum hydrocarbon and metal impacts at several of the former coal pile locations. It is estimated that approximately 50 m3 of impacted soil is present at the site as a result of the Coal Dust Piles. -AEC 2 - Pail Dump Area - Multiple pails and drums are located on the northeastern section of the site. Based on laboratory analysis of a soil sample collected from the AEC, it was determined that approximately 20 m3 of petroleum hydrocarbon impacted soil is present. -AEC 3 - Asbestos Containing Building Materials - Asbestos containing debris including fragments of vinyl floor tiles and transite cement board are present over the site. -Miscellaneous Debris - Debris which includes broken glass, cans, drums, metal and construction debris. The Site is to be restored to pre-remediation conditions or better. All work is to be completed in accordance with specifications and in compliance with all relevant codes, guidelines, standards, criteria, Acts, regulations and with consultation of the Sayisi Dene community.
