The owner states that they have received some federal grants are still working through the timeline. *The previous solicitation is listed below for reference The City of Burlington is looking for proposals for architectural and engineering design services for the Fletcher Free Library. This would include: schematic design Design development, construction documents, bidding and construction administration The City of Burlington, Vermont (City) acting through the Fletcher Free Library Building Committee (FFL BC), is soliciting qualified, interested firms to submit sealed proposals for architectural and engineering design services including schematic design, design development, construction documents, bidding, and construction administration for the remodeling of the existing library and related site work, of the Fletcher Free Library, located at 235 College St., Burlington, VT. Prior successful design of remodeling of historic libraries and public projects is preferred. The Fletcher Free Library is approximately 47,000SF consisting of a historic Carnegie Library building built in 1904 and addition added in 1980. The grand Carnegie building was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1974. A 1977 Federal Development grant and a 1978 bond supported major structural stabilization of the Carnegie building and the 1980 addition of the modern wing of the library. In recent years, City funding has financed multiple repairs and upgrades. One of four historic Carnegie libraries in the State of Vermont, the Fletcher Free Library has grown to meet the evolving needs of the community, welcoming more than 240,000 visitors each year to free and inclusive programs, resources, and services. It is the largest and busiest public library in Vermont.
