Site work and paving for a bridge / tunnel in Chesapeake, Virginia. Design plans call for site work for a bridge / tunnel; and for paving for a bridge / tunnel.
This project provides funding to blast and repaint the Route 168 Northbound and Southbound bridge over Kempsville Road (2 bridges); blast, repair, and perform bridge repairs on the Route 168 Southbound bridge over Battlefield Boulevard; and rehabilitate (repair) the bridge carrying Route 168 over the C&A Canal. This work is intended to reduce ongoing maintenance and extend the service life of these bridges. By rehabilitating these bridges before they fall into complete disrepair and require much more costly reconstruction, this project aligns with the Strategic Anchor of Fiscal Responsibility. This project is included in the city’s 2024-2028 Capital Improvement Plan. As of March 19, 2024, project funded for FY2024. Design began May 2022 and is expected to be completed early 2025. *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP). A CIP is a financial schedule for short- and long-range projects which is updated regularly. Information listed in the CIP often evolves based on funding availability and the project details, including timeline and value, are subject to change.
