Built in 1938 of limestone and granite, the three-story, 116,000-square-foot Peoria Federal Building and U.S. Courthouse was designed in the Art Modern style. The four original public entrances to the building are similar in design. Each consists of three single leaf bronze doors, below a plate glass transom adorned with a decorative bronze metal grille. Due to corrosion, oxidation and UV rays, the original bronze entrance doors are showing signs of severe deterioration. Work also includes restoration and re-lamping of historic light fixtures at the entrances on the building exterior and replacement of the stair railing at the Main Street entrance to Peoria Federal Building 100 N.E.
