Saving Project...

Site work for a civil project in Tahsis, British Columbia. Completed plans call for site work for a bridge / tunnel; and road / highway.

This is a major works contract for BC Timber Sales, Strait of Georgia, and is predominantly for forest service road and bridge maintenance and road deactivation. However, other activities will include forest service road reconstruction, bridge and major culvert installation, GRS wall construction, log dump maintenance and may include minor road construction. The work sites are primarily located in the Artlish, Atluck, Soatwoon (Fair Harbour) and Tahsish general BCTS operating areas (See Project Map-Operational Area) but works may also occur within the Campbell River Forest District. The Ministry is looking for a contractor employing key personnel that are experienced in the type of works described in this document and in the other tender documents. The nature of most of the work requires the contractor to be flexible, to be available as/when needed, able to work without continuous ministry oversight and able to shift priorities with minimal notice. Parts of this contract are for works that are unknown/unplanned at the time of tendering. These works include emergency road repairs and work resulting from road inspections that will be completed continuously during the term of the contract. Because there is a large unknown amount of work the total value of the contract is just an estimate only and may not be spent annually. The Contractor should read the conditions of tender carefully to ensure they meet all of the experience and equipment requirements. Some of the planned works are within the ‘Artlish Fisheries Sensitive Watershed’. The watershed has special protection under the Forest and Range Practices Act. Special attention to sediment control and rainfall shutdown may be required. Controls such as those listed in the document titled ‘Artlish Main General SDMP’ will be expected. Documents can be obtained from www.bcbid.gov.bc.ca.
