Site work and new construction of a laboratory facility in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. Working plans call for the construction of a laboratory facility; and for site work for a laboratory facility.
UT-Battelle is requesting an Expression of Interest for construction of a new section of accelerator tunnel at the Spallation Neutron Source (SNS) located within the Oak Ridge National Laboratory in Oak Ridge TN. The Ring to Target Beam Transport (RTBT) Stub Construction Project is part of the Proton Power Upgrade (PPU) that is increasing the capability of the current SNS accelerator and supports the Second Target Station, which is underway and includes conventional facilities construction with an estimated cost in excess of $500M. The PPU project is funded as a U.S. Department of Energy, Office of Science Line-Item project. As of June 12, 2024, permits have been issued. A timeline for construction has not been established.
