The scope of the FO & BB-SOP is to warn employees, contractors and visitors conducting (see definition for visitors) forestry operations and blueberry cultivation activities at the Former Tracadie Range of dangers associated with the Range's historical munition use. This SOP needs to be followed by all employees, visitors (see Section 1.4 for definition) and contractors conducting work at the Former Tracadie Site. The Department of Agriculture, Aquaculture and Fisheries has developed a responsible and sustainable wild blueberry development plan for lands on the former Tracadie Range. This plan is based on the original Land Use Plan for the Tracadie Range that was developed by local stakeholder groups and government a number of years ago to accommodate wild blueberry development, forestry uses and recreational uses. The wild blueberry development plan follows the principles of sustainable development which includes protection of wildlife and water resources through enhanced buffers and wildlife corridors, treed windbreaks within fields, buffers along roadways and between parcels. The individual parcels meeting the development criteria are now ready to be released for wild blueberry development through an RFP process.
