This project is funded with assistance of the State of Connecticut Public Library Construction Grant. This project is subject to the State Prevailing Wage Rates. The selected contractor must be pre-qualified by the State Department of Administrative Services and must comply with DAS requirements for General Building Construction - Group B as defined by the DAS Contractor Classification List. The Owner reserves the right to reject any and all bids, and to waive any informality in the bidding to serve the best interests of the Library. All bid documents must be completely filled out when submitted. Bids must be firm for a period of 90 days following the bid opening. Bid withdrawal may only be made with the consent of the Owner. The Owner is an affirmative action / equal opportunity employer. Minority/Women's and small business enterprises are encouraged to apply. In general, the work includes but is not limited to sitework, excavation, selective demolition, concrete foundations and slabs, brickwork and concrete block, limited structural steel, wood framed construction, architectural woodwork, new PVC and asphalt shingle roofing, doors, frames and hardware, fiberglass windows, gypsum wallboard, acoustical ceilings, interior finishes, removal of an existing elevator and the construction of a new elevator, furniture and collection relocation, plumbing, mechanical and electrical work. The library will remain partially open during the phased construction. The budget for the work is $1,500,000. The deadline for questions received by the Architect shall be 3:00 p.m. on Monday March 21, 2022.
