Site work and paving for a road / highway in Manchester, New Hampshire. Working plans call for site work for a road / highway; and for paving for a road / highway.
As of January 16, 2024, an engineer has been selected and this project is in the final planning phase. It is anticipated bidding will commence late 2024/early 2025 with construction following. *The closed solicitation has been included below for reference: The City of Manchester Department of Public Works is requesting letters of intent from Professional Engineering and Design Consultants interested in submitting proposals for the RAISE MANCHESTER: CONNECTING THE FUTURE PROJECT. The proposed plan is to implement the City's vision, as awarded in the 2021 RAISE Grant constructing and connecting four major elements of transportation connectivity in the southern area of downtown Manchester and its millyard. The four major elements are as follows and are further described in supporting documents: A. South Commercial Street Extension: new roadway with bridge over the railroad tracks and grade separated bicycle and pedestrian path B. South Willow Street-Queen City Avenue Intersection Reconfiguration: peanut roundabout with improved bicycle and pedestrian accommodations C. Gas Street Extension and Active Transportation Corridor: new roadway connecting South Commercial Street Extension to Willow Street, and utilization of abandoned railroad corridor for bicycle and pedestrian path D. Pedestrian Connection Improvements: pedestrian bridge over Granite Street In addition to these major elements there will be connections to existing roadway and trail systems, as well as a fully Adaptive Signal Control (ASC) system connecting the entire project from north to south. Consultants will be required to conduct a physical inventory of the site, as well as conduct topographic and geotechnical surveys as necessary, prepare systems engineering documentation for all elements, prepare design/engineering plans, lead public engagement and public relations efforts and maintain project website, prepare NEPA documentation, obtain any and all permits (such as Alteration of Terrain and Wetlands encroachment), facilitate ROW easements and/or acquisitions, and produce contract documents for public bid. The project is being funded by the U.S. DOT Rebuilding American Infrastructure with Sustainability and Equity (RAISE) program with supporting funding from the City of Manchester. The selected consultant will be required to comply with all applicable Federal Highway and State requirements for a federally funded project. The City of Manchester will follow its Procurement Code for consultant selection. Additional information concerning the project may be obtained by visiting the City of Manchester's website electronically. The method of contractor selection has not been determined at this time
