Project no- 21-55 DESCRIPTION: This work consists of excavating and stockpiling material from operations associated with excavating the trench for construction of sand bin at the KCRC North Complex. Section 205 of the 2020 Standard Specifications for Construction shall apply to this work unless otherwise noted herein. CONSTRUCTION: Excavate earth for the sand bin(s) to the line and grades shown on the plan. Stockpile spoils at the location shown on the plans. At the bottom of the excavation area for the sand storage bin, "proof roll" the existing material at the bottom of the trench after trimming. Proof rolling shall consist of compaction with either a roller or plate compactor. In the event unsuitable soils are found, the Owner will instruct the Contractor how to proceed and negotiate additional compensation due to the increased scope. Proposals will be opened at the offices of the Board of County Road Commissioners of the County of Kent, State of Michigan located at 1500 Scribner Avenue NW, Grand Rapids, MI 49504. Refer to the INVITATION TO BID for the exact timing and for the identification of the bid as related to furnishing materials, services, equipment, work and/or supplies with the terms, conditions, specifications, drawings, plans, and special provisions as stated herein and hereto attached. The Board reserves the right to reject any and all Proposals or to waive irregularities therein, and to accept any Proposals which, in the opinion of the Board, may be most advantageous and to the best interest of the County.
