As of May 19, 2022, this project was awarded to NEW ENTERPRISE STONE & LIME CO., INC. for $7,195,632.29. This project provides for the resurfacing of the Turnpike eastbound and westbound median and shoulders. Work will also include shoulder reconstruction, guide rail replacement, drainage channel reconstruction, and replacement of inlets including type A inlets with new inlets, and drain pipes. Additional work includes access ramps, moment slab, installation of gabion basket slope remediation, rock armor, and maintenance and protection of traffic. Work items include, but are not limited to: 6,282 CY Excavation, Various Class 72,625 SY Milling of Existing Asphalt Pavement, Various Depths 8,686 TON Superpave Asphalt Mixture Design, Wearing Course, 2" Depth 1,512 TON Superpave Asphalt Mixture Design, Binder Course, Various Depths 1,040 TON Rich Bottom Superpave Asphalt Mixture Design, Base Course 3,725 LF Type 31-S Guide Rail 5,715 CY Rock Armor, Modified, Rock Armor, Modified, With Toe Key 4,066 CY Rock Blanket 8,544 SY Shoulder Backup 2,144 TON Subbase (No. 2A), and Subbase Under Guiderail 25 EACH Inlets, Various Condition Milepost 110.79 is located approximately 0.79 miles East of the Somerset Interchange, Exit 110, and Milepost 114.15 is located approximately 31.85 miles West of the Bedford Interchange, Exit 146, in Somerset County, Pennsylvania. The proposal and plans are published electronically in EBS and are available to registered business partners for downloading and printing. An electronic bid bond, from an approved vendor, with corporate surety, in the amount of five (5%) percent of the bid must be submitted with the proposal as bid security. The bid security of the three (3) low bidders will be retained until the execution of the contract. (The normal time for execution of the contract is approximately four [4] weeks.) A Prequalification Certification and Applicable Capacity Rating assigned by the Prequalification Office of the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation is a necessary prerequisite for bidding on this project. The opening and listing of bids not meeting all the terms and conditions of the bid advertisement or bid procedures does not act as a waiver or modification of any requirements contained in the bid advertisement or bid procedure. The Provisions of the Pennsylvania Prevailing Wage Act of August 15, 1961, P.L. 987, as amended, together with the rates and regulations promulgated by the Secretary of Labor and Industry applicable thereto, shall apply to this contract.
