Renovation of an educational facility in Frederick, Maryland. Completed plans call for the renovation of a educational facility.

A. Background: The Maryland School for the Deaf is soliciting a vendor to provide all labor, materials, and supervision etc. to conduct the Foxwell Dorm Interior Painting Project. B. Scope of the Work: The project start date will be mutually agreed upon the winning contractor and the Maryland School for the Deaf Maintenance Supervisor. The contractor must provide minimum 2 weeks' notice of the start date. C. Specifications: 1. The contractor will paint the Foxwell Dorm Interior building which is approximately 25,000 square feet. It is recommended the contractor take measurements at the pre-bid conference. 2. The Maryland School for the Deaf will not be responsible for inaccurate square footage. The measurements MSD has taken are approximate square footage. 3. The contractor will paint the walls, doors, trim, fin tube, heating covers, pipes and electrical conduit that are mounted flush or anchored to the walls on the 1st, 2nd, 3rd floors, (2) "L" shaped Hallways, (1) straight hallway, (25) Dorm rooms, (2) TV Rooms, (1) Lobby area and 2 sets of stairways. 4. The contractor will be responsible for any nail holes, loose paint, tape joints, and cracks of any sort for repair. 5. The contractor is to apply one coat of primer and two coats of finish paint. 6. The contractor shall use an approved stain blocking primer for interior/exterior use 7. The top coat will be a semi gloss finish paint from either McCormick or Sherwin Williams. No other substitutions will be made unless it has been approved by the Maintenance Supervisor first 8. The color for the walls will be Arizona White semi gloss 9. The color for the Doors and Trim will be Drifting Sand semi gloss 10. The contractor will cover all flooring areas they are working on with a tarp or equivalent to protect the flooring, furniture and other equipment 11. Any paint spilled or spots on the floor will be cleaned up by the contractor. 12. The contractor will clean up and remove all debris on a daily basis and after the completion of the project. 13. All paint will be approved by Maryland School for the Deaf Maintenance Dept. before work is to be started. D. PAINT APPLICATION 1. Spray painting will not be permitted use brush or roller compatible with paint being applied. 2. After surface preparation is complete apply the appropriate primer on all surfaces. The drying time between coats shall be specified by the manufacturer.
