Nierenberg Switchgear Replacement (Estimated duration 180 days) Replace existing electrical switchgear equipment including switchboard, panels, and associated electrical infrastructure at Nierenberg Hall located in Scripps Institution of Oceanography. Estimated Construction Cost is $785,000. The prequalified Contractors will competitively bid for a lump-sum contract on each project separately. Each project will have separate bidding and construction schedule. Bidding for all projects are expected to take place during the spring of 2022. The University seeks Contractors with demonstrated experience in renovations to electrical systems to accommodate emergency power additions within an operational research facility. The University may require that work be conducted within specified work-windows without interruptions to normal campus operation. The University seeks Contractors with demonstrated experience working in the Commercial or institutional research laboratory or critical facility with a high degree of technical complexity. Specific experience requirements include: electrical upgrade work requiring complex phasing solutions to maintain full operations, Repair of buildings requiring proactive and innovative solutions due to noise, dust, and pedestrian traffic while building is occupied and research is ongoing, renovations/expansions requiring proactive and innovative solutions due to unknown and/or unforeseen field conditions, project complexity requiring tracking of multiple functions and the critical path scheduling and phases to complete on time. The Contractor shall have demonstrated an average annual business revenue of at least $4,000,000 over the last five (5) consecutive years. The Contractor must have demonstrated experience on their best three (3) comparable projects with the Contractor providing services as Electrical Prime Contractor within the last ten (10) years. Such projects should include these specific components: major facility system shut downs that required extensive coordination with end user, renovation work requiring coordination of creative construction containment solutions to allow for protection of adjacent occupied areas during construction, renovation work requiring coordination of creative construction containment solutions to allow for protection of adjacent occupied areas during construction, demolition in an occupied facility, overhead install work in an occupied facility and temporary power.
