Site work for a water / sewer project in Manitou Springs, Colorado. Conceptual plans call for site work for a water / sewer project.
The City of Manitou Springs has a two-million-gallon steel water storage tank called Mesa Tank that was constructed in the early 1980s. The City is seeking engineering services for construction of a second water storage tank pursuant to this RFP at an identified City-owned site near the existing tank. The proposed capacity of the new tank would likely be in the range of one to two million gallons, subject to the available funds for this project. Said location was previously the site of a small reservoir and settling pond that was demolished in the early 1980s when the existing tank was constructed. The site is accessible only by narrow winding residential streets and a steep and narrow access road, which will add construction challenges and cost to the project. The City staff presume that bolted steel tank construction would be the most cost-effective material for the proposed tank, but the City is open to the use of concrete construction if that would result in a more effective solution, consistent with the limited City funds for this project.
