Renovation of a fire / police facility in South Gate, California. Completed plans call for the renovation of a 20,865-square-foot, three-story above grade fire / police facility.

The work to be done consists of furnishing all materials, equipment, tools, labor, and incidentals as required by the Specifications and Contract Documents. The general items of work include replacement of the building HVAC system and related components, upgrades and replacement of portions of the building's electrical system and related work as called for in the plans and specifications. Any questions or equivalent material or substitution request of construction materials asked by email or by telephone will not be answered. Materials substitutions or questions will be accepted until 4:00 pm on or before January 24, 2024. Any questions or equivalent material or substitution request of construction materials submitted after January 24, 2024, will not be answered. Answers to questions and/or any responses to material substitution request will be issued by January 31, 2024, as an addendum. Bids will not be received unless they are made on a proposal form furnished in the Contract Documents by the City of South Gate. Each bid must be accompanied by cash, certified check, cashier's check or bidder's bond, made payable to the City of South Gate for an amount equal to at least ten percent (10%) of the amount bid, such guarantee to be forfeited should the bidder to whom the contract is awarded fail to enter into the Contract. All bids shall be valid for a period of 90 days after City's bid opening date, notwithstanding any award of Contract by the City to another bidder. Bids will not be accepted from contractors who are not licensed in accordance with the provisions of Chapter 9, Division III of the Business and Professions Code of the State of California. Each Bidder shall possess either of (a) a valid Class "A" Contractor's license (b) a valid Class "B" Contractor's license held by the prime and combination of Class "C-4 hot water heating / boiler", "C-8 concrete, "C-10 electrical", "C-12 earthwork", "C-20 hvac", "C-21 demo", "C-29 masonry", "C-36 plumbing", "C-39 roofing", "C-51 structural steel", and "C-60 welding" specialty licenses held by subcontractors as applicable (c) Any of the above stated "C" licenses held by the prime and combination of the remaining state "C" specialty licenses held by the subcontractors as applicable issued by the California State Contractors License Board necessary for the performance of all Work to be performed at the time of the Bid submission, unless this Project has any federal funding, in which case the successful Bidder must possess such a license at the time of Contract award. The successful Contractor must also possess a current City business license. Attention is directed to the provisions in Section 1777.5 of the Labor Code concerning the employment of apprentices by the Contractor or any subcontractor under him. Attention is directed to Government Code Sections 4590 and 14402.5 permitting the substitution of specified and approved securities for contract retention of funds. All such securities shall be subject to the review and approval of the City Attorney for the City of South Gate. The successful bidder will be required to furnish a payment bond in an amount equal to one hundred percent (100%) of the contract price, a faithful performance bond in an amount equal to one hundred percent (100%) of the contract price and said bonds shall be secured from a surety company satisfactory to the City Attorney for the City of South Gate.
