The project is to construct an underground valve pit on the existing 12" DI force main that leaves the sanitary sewer Pump Station #1S located on the corner of Durkee Street & Simpson Street, Swoyersville, PA. A reinforced concrete vault will need to be constructed for the new piping/valving arrangement. The valve pit will consist of a piping header with valves to allow the pump station to be isolated from the force main and will also include a permanent piping arrangement for a bypass connection which will include a separate isolation valve and check valve. A combination air/vacuum valve will be installed on the force main inside the vault along with associated piping routed to the existing wetwell. A sump pump will be installed in the vault along with associated piping routed to the existing wetwell. A single underground conduit run will also be installed from the vault to an above grade junction box mounted to the pump station building exterior. A temporary line stop will be required on the existing 12" DI force main in order to install the new piping. All work will take place in the lawn area - no work in the street is anticipated. All work is to be performed in accordance with WVSA Project Drawings and Specifications. The project will include but not be limited to excavation, backfill/compaction, site restoration, reinforced cast-in-place concrete construction (vault foundation/floor), procurement of precast reinforced concrete "doghouse" vault & flattop slab, piping assembly, procurement of all piping, valves, fittings, check valves, gaskets, flange hardware, air/vacuum valve, pipe supports, etc. Fabrication of custom stainless steel pipe supports will also be included. All labor, tools, equipment and materials for the project shall be provided by the contractor. This project is subject to the provisions of the "Steel Products Procurement Act" of March 3, 1978. Bids must be accompanied by bid security in the amount of ten percent (10%) of the total amount of the bid, made payable to Wyoming Valley Sanitary Authority. At the option of the Bidder, the Bid Bond may be a certified check, bank draft, U.S. Government Bond (at par value) or a Bid Bond on the form provided in the contract documents. Wyoming Valley Sanitary Authority reserves the right to reject or accept any or all bids, and to waive any informalities, defects or irregularities, or any part or parts thereof. There will NOT be a pre-bid conference for this project. Bidders can visit the project site located at the corner of Durkee Street and Simpson Street, Swoyersville, PA 18704. The successful contractor will have thirty (30) days to complete the entire project after receipt of the Notice to Proceed from WVSA. (Will be issued once all project materials have been procured.)
