The UNC Institute of Marines Sciences in Morehead City. The corrosive coastal environment decreases the service life of this equipment and increases the repairs and maintenance needed to keep the equipment operational. These projects were identified in the 2018 R&R plan. Several high priority deficiencies at the UNC Institute of Marines Sciences in Morehead City are addressed with this project and will result in decreased system shut down periods caused by repairs and equipment failure. Below is the proposed scope of work for this project: - Install Lightning Protection System at IMS Coker Hall, Coastal Processes, Fisheries Research Lab - Repairs to Electrical Distribution System at IMS Fisheries Research Lab - Replace Air Handling Unit 1, Ductwork, and Terminal Units at IMS Fisheries Research Lab - Repair Air Handling Units 1 and 2, Replace Chilled Water Control Valve and Water Heater at IMS Coastal Process Building The design team shall: o Assist in coordination of University stakeholders, such as, the Department of Facilities Planning + Design, Construction Management, Facilities Engineering, Energy Services, Information Technology Services, and other University support services. o Participate in land entitlement process with Town of Chapel Hill o Prepare designs including Cost Analysis of multiple options. All contract documents shall be in compliance with provisions regarding the NC Building Codes. o Respond to comments as part of the State Construction Office review process for Capital Planning Projects. o Prepare Cost Estimates, Project Schedules, Phasing Plans (as may be necessary), and Concept Renderings for the project.
