Site work, paving and renovation of a civil project in Storrs Mansfield, Connecticut. Completed plans call for the renovation of a road / highway; for site work for a road / highway; for paving for a road / highway; water / sewer project; and water / sewer project.

Only contractors prequalified by both the Department of Administrative Services (DAS) in the specified classification for this project (ELECTRICAL) as of the due date of the Application, and the University, through this Prequalification Application, shall be permitted to bid on this project Project Description: The Arthur B. Bronwell Building was completed circa 1968 and today houses the Biomedical Engineering Department. In 2020 UConn Facilities Operations completed an assessment of the existing electrical system. The assessment concluded existing electrical and main distribution equipment are original to the building, are at the end of their useful life and their reliability continues to deteriorate over time. The intent of this project is to ensure future electrical service to both the Bronwell building and the Engineering II building remains reliable by replacing the existing electrical substations and main distribution with new equipment. The project will also include provisions for redundant power to prevent electrical disruption within the facility. Scope of Work: The selected Electrical Contractor must demonstrate experience providing construction services for the following scope of work: The project will replace the existing electrical and main distribution with new equipment. Program elements include but are not limited to (4) new electrical transformers, new feeders, new switchgear, landscape enclosure, pavement resurfacing and replacing the existing ramp entrance to facilitate excavation. The project will also include a "storm switch" connection for a temporary power generator feed that enables continued operation during scheduled and unforeseen power outages. The new connections and redundant power will ensure research is not at risk from power outages. New equipment will be located next to Engineering II Building and will include improvements to Engineering II electrical service as well.
