Public Notice Trail Improvement Project at Cavitt's Creek Park Tazewell County, Virginia Tazewell County, Virginia Is Proposing to Improve the Existing Trail System and Install Bathroom Facilities at Cavitt's Creek Park in Tazewell County, Virginia. The Project Area Currently Has a Trail System of Approximately Ten (10) Miles and Two (2) Campsites. The Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation (Dcr) Is Providing Partial Grant Funding Through the Recreational Trails Program to Tazewell County, Who Owns Cavitt's Creek Park. The Funding Would Be Used to Construct an American With Disabilities Act (Ada) Accessible Trail Approximately Three-quarters of a Mile (0.75 Miles Long); Ada-compliant Bathroom Facilities; and Conduct Maintenance on Nine and Seven-tenths (9.7) Miles of the Existing Trail System Around Cavitt's Creek/lake Witten. The Proposed Project May Result in Short-term Minor Impacts to the Environment Including Noise, Air Quality, Recreation, Visual Setting, and Soils. There Would Be Longterm Beneficial Impacts to the Tazewell County and the Surrounding Region Due to the Proposed Improvements. Tazewell County Has Prepared a Categorical Exclusion (Ce) in Compliance With the National Environmental Policy Act and Dcr's Recreational Trails Program to Describe the Project and the Potential Impacts on the Environment. A Public Meeting Will Be Held on June 28, 2022 at Between 7:00 Pm and 8:00 Pm at the Tazewell County Administration Building, Located at 197 Main Street, Tazewell, Va 24651to Provide Information and Obtain Public Input.
