Renovation of an educational facility in Berkeley, California. Completed plans call for the renovation of a educational facility.

The Berkeley Campus of the University of California requests that interested firms submit written statements of qualifications to provide Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing (MEP) Engineering services for Birge, Hilgard and Cory Hall HVAC systems and associated control systems evaluation. o Project numbers 12826A is the Birge Hall project, 12827A is the Hilgard Hall project, 16209A is the Cory Hall AB94 project. This design RFQ is considered a packaged issuance because of the design readiness to compile a permit package and common scope of work synergies, being a chiller plant application. o The MEP engineers will validate the existing conditions before engineering begins, specifically, but not limited to, hydronic piping arrangements, power distribution, equipment modifications vs. MEP schedules, waste and vent, make-up water, building automation infrastructure and associated control logic. o While Deferred Maintenance (DM) scope is focused as "replaced in kind", the Engineer of Record (EOR) will validate the building HVAC load profile vs. existing chiller plant to ensure the associated equipment and piping is right-sized from an energy perspective. o A basis of design (BOD) shall be drafted and issued to confirm the design criteria, engineering scope boundaries, design assumptions and stakeholder confirmations. o Given the scale of the project, two (2) engineering packages shall be issued for design development and permit package / CD set. o Meet with Berkeley Campus stakeholders, such as Facilities Services Personnel, Campus Fire Marshal and Building Managers, to determine known issues with the building HVAC systems and related controls. Questions about this RFQ or the project should be submitted using Building Connected by using the "Message" Tab no later than 5:00 PM PST on June 10, 2022. Estimated Construction Cost: $5,000,000 to $6,000,000 *The value for this project is based on a financial range. The value is listed as the highest possible cost from the range provided by a stakeholder or official project document.
