Site work and new construction of a fire / police facility in Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta. Completed plans call for the construction of a 30,000-square-foot, two-story above grade fire / police facility.

The Helmuth Ritter Fire Station will be located at 151 Southridge Boulevard. The lot was purchased by the City in 2014. Southridge Boulevard abuts the lot to the north and Southview Way to the west. Deep Utilities are stubbed to the property from Southview Way and shallow utilities run along Southridge Boulevard. The IPD team will Validate concept three from the Fire Hall Scope Study (Appendix F). Concept three is a two storey, 2,786 square meter facility which includes an Emergency Coordination Centre (ECC), training grounds and a heritage room where the City can display a historic fire truck that has been rebuilt and honor the 120-year history of the Fort Saskatchewan Fire Department (FSFD). Below is a summary of the scope of work for concept three: Two new park lots with approximately 60 parking stalls Security access and fencing around staff parking and training grounds Two new accesses to Southview Way and Southridge Blvd Apparatus Bay with auxiliary spaces (gear storage, gear wash, workshop, SCBA washer/dryer, hose drying, compressor room/SCBA compressor, radio room) 8 dorm rooms Platoon Chief office with Platoon Chief dorm Captain office with Captain dorm Fitness area Common area and kitchen Computer room Janitor and laundry rooms Washrooms and shower spaces Locker rooms Classroom Offices Board room and breakout rooms Reception Storage Heritage room Training grounds with training tower Second floor dedicated ECC space with offices, breakout rooms, washrooms, kitchen, boardroom, server room, and command centre.
