Site work for a playground / park / athletic field in Santa Cruz, California. Conceptual plans call for site work for a playground / park / athletic field.

The University of California, Santa Cruz, is soliciting qualified Engineering Design Professional teams to provide professional services for the following proposed project:Predesign services for Westside Research Park Mircogrid Project with the overall goal of the project to install a microgird at WRP so these facilities can island from the utility and stay operational during power shut-off The 18-acre Westside Research Park (WRP) is a UC Santa Cruz research campus that hosts researchers from Genomics, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Physical and Biological Sciences, Social Sciences, and the Arts. Located at 2300 Delaware Avenue, Santa Cruz, the campus is a satellite positioned between the residential campus and the Coastal Science Campus. In this location, WRP does not enjoy the systemic utility resilience provided on the main campus for research activities The goal of the project is to install a microgird at WRP so this facilities can island from the utility and stay operational during power shut-off. The interconnection to the Coastal Science Campus (~0.5mile away) will be researched to increase the size of the mircogrid. If there are any UCSC Plan room related questions, please contact Matt Mullin at mamullin@ucsc.edu. Only predesign services for Westside Research Park Mircogrid Project funding is available at this time. The University will evaluate Design Professional team's performance at the completion of predesign services. Once funding is available UCSC may move forward with the full design using this Design Professional team and also may use this Design Professional team for connection the WRP microgrid to the Coastal Science Campus to form one microgrid will both campuses or other future microgrid projects The WRP Microgrid Pre-Design study has the principal task of analysis, evaluation and preliminary plan for an effective on-site microgrid application. This study will address the following characteristics at the research campus: 1. Analyze energy demand in terms of current requirements, as well as those that are expected with the full build-out of the existing buildings; 2. Evaluate opportunities for self-generated energy resources at the WRP site; 3. Evaluate energy storage options at the WRP site; and 4. Research the interconnection of energy resources between the WRP site and the Coastal Science Campus, including the process for permitting the easement, recordation, and the engineering design of the combined system At the conclusion of the pre-design study, a preliminary plan that includes a cost estimate will be provided to effectively address utility-sourced power disruption for indefinite time periods, with the expectation that this solution can be deployed in a scalable fashion to match the build-out of the research facility on a course to full capacity. The project study requires review to determine an appropriate, scalable on-site microgrid solution in response to the potential of ongoing power disruptions experienced from utility sourced power. In addition to the on-site equipment and technology review, the process, easements, recordation, equipment, and costs for providing an inter-campus connection between the WRP and the Coastal Science Campus will be documented for review and potential approval in the next phase of project development. The predesign tasks for the Design Professional team will be to perform a full power assessment. The Design Professional will provide multiple options to meet the goals of the project with a recommend solution. All engineering calculation will be completed in pre-design to insure viability. Deliverables for pre-design will include narrative for the project with recommended solution and alternatives considered, full construction estimate for recommend solution and layout plan with single line. The tentative schedule for completion of review of Statement of Qualifications is Tuesday, September 20,2022. Interviews are tentatively scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday, September 28 and September 29, 2022. The method of Contractor Selection has not been Determined
