Site work and paving for a civil project in Skamokawa, Washington. Design plans call for site work for a bridge / tunnel; for paving for a bridge / tunnel; road / highway; and road / highway.
As of May 10, 2024, per owner, an engineer has been identified. This project has not gone out for bid yet, so they do not have a contractor. Project is in the PE Design phase and they are close to 90%. Construction anticipated Fall 2024. The Wahkiakum County Public Works solicits interest from consulting firms with expertise in Civil and Structural Engineering Design. This agreement will be for approximately two years in duration with the option for the Wahkiakum County Public Works to extend it for additional time and money if necessary. Consultants will be considered for the following project. The Wahkiakum County Public Works reserves the right to amend terms of this "Request for Qualifications" (RFQ) to circulate various addenda, or to withdraw the RFQ at any time, regardless of how much time and effort consultants have spent on their responses. Project Description The work to be performed by the CONSULTANT consists of preparing engineering design for improvements to East Valley Road from SR-4 to the fire station. The proposed improvements include improving intersection approach angle and radii for right turns, design of retaining walls to provide for roadway widening, improving pedestrian access and replacing substandard guardrail. This project has a Voluntary 10% SBE goal. The major features of the project are as follows: o Approximately 0.3 miles of pavement overlay Improving intersection geometry to meet design standards. Environmental documentation and preparation of permit applications including historic preservation Potential need for modification to historic bridge Structural design for retaining walls and culvert extensions/replacements. Guardrail or pedestrian rail improvements The Wahkiakum County Public Works reserves the right to retain the services of the successful firm(s) for any subsequent phases (R/W, CN) associated with this/these project(s). Evaluation Criteria Submittals will be evaluated and ranked based on the following criteria: 1) Qualification of Proposed Project Manager 2) Qualifications/Expertise of Firm 3) Ability to meet schedule 4) Approach to project 5) Familiarity with WSDOT/FHWA standards 6) Past Performance/References Submittal Submittals should include the following information: Firm name, phone and fax numbers; Name of Principal-in-Charge and Project Manager; and Number of employees in each firm proposed to project.
