The Town of Amherst, as Awarding Authority, invites written quotations for the construction of a wood walking bridge and stream bank restoration to the Plum Brook located on Bay Road in Amherst, MA. The Town of Amherst, MA has secured funding to restore a portion of the Plum Brook located on the heavily used Sweet Alice Trail system located off of Bay Road in Amherst. The project will eliminate two very small failing culverts and provide for safe passage over the stream while improving the conditions to better allow wildlife and aquatic life to pass. Materials and labor for the construction of wood bridge as shown and detailed on Plan Set dated 6/10/21 Sheet L3 Labeled "Area 4 Restored Stream and Crossing" and Sheet L4 Detail 2 Labeled "Stream Crossing": 1. Excavation for bridge post supports, installation of min. 4" crushed stone base, installation of pressure treated 6x6 wood support posts, compacted backfill to grade. 2. Construction of a pressure treated wood frame bridge structure with all detailed bracing, connections and fastening. 3. Installation of pressure treated deck boards for the finish walking surface. 4. Placement of compacted fill to raise grade from existing surface to top edge of new deck boards.
