Renovation of an educational facility in Madison, Connecticut. Conceptual plans call for the renovation of a educational facility.

As of October 18, 2022, this project is in the conceptual phase. An architect has not been selected. Although a firm timeline for construction has not been determined, construction is not expected to start prior to October 2023. *The closed solicitation has been included below for reference: Project Overview A. Project Background The Town of Madison "Town" is seeking one qualified Engineering/ Design firm "Engineer" to provide professional services related to the design and construction oversight of theatrical lighting for the Daniel Hand High School. The RFP will include development of construction documents and specifications for a theatrical lighting system; including lighting fixture selection, photometrics, power wiring, controls, and serviceable structural mounting system(s). B. Scope of Services a. Daniel Hand High School Theatrical Lighting System Upgrade The High School (HS) stage is in the primary assembly space. The students perform three (3) major theatrical productions per year. The first production is generally a comedy or drama. The second performance is generally a musical. And the third is the STAR (Student Theater Arts Repertoire) program. This space is utilized to support this active dramatic arts program in addition to serving as the primary HS assembly space. The existing lighting system is outdated and in need of modernization. It is the intention of this project to provide a modern energy efficient lighting system to support the quality theatrical programming offered by the HS. It is the responsibility of the selected consultant to provide a design that meets the needs of the program and the budget allocated to this scope of work. Stage lighting shall be provided for stage left, center, and right. Total of three (3) battens (three battens are existing). Provide work lights, ellipsoidal RGB-L fixtures, 26o-36o-50o lenses, PAR RGB-L fixtures, and RGB-L wash fixtures. Provide moving color mixing spot lights and moving head RGBW wash light. Provide network-friendly lighting control console and compatible lighting. Lighting control console to be located opposite the stage. Provide motorized rigging, hoist, control, and structural supports (as necessary). . Visit the site to gather existing conditions, lighting support structures, power infrastructure, and interview staff to ascertain the nature of stage use. . Create a schematic design based on the existing conditions and program requirements. This will be reviewed with the project team via virtual meeting. Owner will provide comment prior to proceeding to the next phase. . Provide 90% construction documents and construction cost estimate for final review. This will be reviewed with the project team via virtual meeting. Owner will provide comment prior to proceeding to the next phase. . Provide 100% bid package to facilitate competitive bidding. Support the owner through the bid process to include, but not limited to; prebid walk through, respond to bid period RFIs, issue addendum, assist with scope review for all bids, and assist owner with contractor selection. . The design shall include all demolition and installation plans and specifications in accordance with all applicable codes and regulations, including civil, electrical, mechanical, piping, and structural aspects of the project as necessary for the contractor to obtain necessary permits to perform the work. The consultant will be considered Engineer of record and shall be bear full responsibility for the final design. . Consultant shall provide periodic construction inspections, startup/ commissioning, and coordination with Town and their Agent. Phase 1 - Milestones and Deliverables . Kickoff meeting with Town and Towns Agent. . SD (30%) submittal including; photometric lighting layout, power requirements, structural requirements, and other details necessary to convey the design intent. . CD (90%) submittal including; complete lighting layout, fixture selections, lighting controls package, power wiring design, structural supports (as required), and all supporting notes, details, schedules, and specifications. . Construction cost estimate for the 90% deliverable. . Bid Set (100%) submittal including; all components of the 90% set as corrected per 90% owner review and comment. . Bid Support; assist owner with bid process, bid review, RFIs, and bid period questions. Questions regarding this request for proposals should be directed via electronic mail to: .
