Renovation of an educational facility in Madison, Connecticut. Completed plans call for the renovation of a educational facility.

As part of the Madison Public School redistricting plan, Brown Intermediate School will be converted into an elementary school. In preparation of lower grade levels, alterations to various areas of the building are planned to be renovated; specifically, the East Wing located at the rear of the building. The area is reconfigured with adequately sized kindergarten and grade one classrooms that will have restrooms in each. Interested firms shall have extensive experience with construction of elementary schools. This project is not subject to a grant application to the state. Scope of Work and Intent of the Contract Documents The Contract Documents indicate all Work for the full interior renovation of a Kindergarten and First Grade East Wing, including new classrooms, toilet rooms, support spaces, utility systems, and exterior windows. Additional select interior renovations are indicated elsewhere within the building for toilet core replacement and door and door hardware replacement. There are four alternates included in the project as follows: 1. Add Alternate No. 1, Millwork Associated with Kindergarten and First Grade Wing Renovations: Add Millwork associated with all Kindergarten and First Grade Wing Renovations, including associated classroom sinks. Base bid assumes all rough-in work, including plumbing supply/drain and blocking. Plumbing is to be capped in-wall. 2. Add Alternate No. 2, Toilet Core Renovations: Add toilet core demolition and new construction at Toilet Rooms 01.5, 01.15, 234, 236, 522, and 523. Base bid assumes no work in this area. 3. Add Alternate No. 3, Door Replacement: Add door and hardware replacement at Lower and Upper Level E-Series doors. Base bid assumes no work in these areas, and only door and door hardware in the base scope are associated with K-Series doors at the Kindergarten/First Grade Renovation Area. 4. Add Alternate No. 4, Resilient Tile Flooring: Provide linoleum floor tile in lieu of vinyl composition tile as indicated on Materials List and in compliance with Division 09 Section "Linoleum Flooring." Inquires, Interpretations and Addenda All questions about the meaning of the intent of the Contract Documents shall be submitted to the Tecton Architects in writing or via email to Justin Hopkins at justinh@tectonpc.com and Kathryn Mease at kathrynm@tectonpc.com by 4:00 PM on November 14, 2022. Any interpretations of questions so raised, which in the opinion of the Town require interpretations, will be issued by Addenda via website not later than November 21, 2022. The Town will not be responsible for oral interpretations or clarifications which anyone presumes to make on its behalf.
