Renovation of a transportation facility in Ketchikan, Alaska. Conceptual plans call for the renovation of a two-story above grade transportation facility.
The existing 4th and 5th floor exterior envelope system was constructed in 1972 and consists of aluminum storefront style framework with a combination of windows and insulated metal panels. This design is not practical for SE Alaska and as such, has significant water infiltration problems during inclement weather. Furthermore, the building envelope system is not energy efficient and contributes to high HVAC costs. This project would provide an improved watertight and energy efficient building envelope system for the 4th and 5th floor of the terminal. This project is in included in the Ketchikan Gateway Borough FY 2024-2028 ClP. As of September 5, 2023, information regarding a design team and the contractor selection has not been disclosed. A firm timeline for construction has not been established. *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP). A CIP is a financial schedule for short- and long-range projects which is updated regularly. Information listed in the CIP often evolves based on funding availability and the project details, including timeline and value, are subject to change.
