Site work and paving for a road / highway in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin. Conceptual plans call for site work for a road / highway; and for paving for a road / highway.
Location The WIS 178 and Olson Drive intersection is located in the Riverside Industrial Park area on the east side of the city of Chippewa Falls in Chippewa County. Overview This intersection has experienced operational issues and a trend of injury angle crashes over the past few years. WisDOT is investigating alternatives to improve safety and operations at the intersection, including: Traffic signal control: Traffic signal alternative In this option, a traffic signal would be installed at WIS 178 and Olson Drive, and there would be no changes to existing lane configurations at the intersection. In addition, WisDOT would propose access modifications at the adjacent intersection to the north, WIS 178 and Cashman Drive, with this alternative to eliminate left-turn and through movements from the Cashman Drive approaches. Left and right turns from WIS 178 onto Cashman Drive could still be made. Right turns from east- and westbound Cashman Drive onto WIS 178 could still be made. Cashman Drive traffic wishing to cross or make a left turn onto WIS 178 would be redirected south along Cashman Drive to use the traffic signal at WIS 178 and Olson Drive. As of November 21, 2022, this project is in the planning phase and pending funding for design and construction. An engineer has not been selected. The owner plans to select an engineer the latter half of 2023. A firm timeline for construction has not been determined.
