AS of May 23, 2023, the project has been awarded. A timeline for construction has not been confirmed. This is the second phase (Phase Two) of a two-phase solicitation process: the first phase evaluated the qualifications of all interested suppliers; the second phase (Phase Two) invites the qualified suppliers to provide a financial bid on the project based on the specifications and drawings. Public Works and Government Services Canada (PWGSC), Real Property Branch requires a qualified contractor to replace and/or repair the front entrance curtain wall system, the entrance canopy, and the roof parapet. The Contract includes all products, labour, equipment, as required or implied by the drawings and specifications to complete the Work. The Contractor must perform and complete the Work within 52 weeks from the date of notification of acceptance of the offer. Location: ASD Hamilton Hangar, John C. Munro Hamilton International Airport, 9300 Airport Road, #2206 Mount Hope, ON The two-storey building located at 9300 Airport Road at Hamilton International Airport is owned by Transport Canada. The building was built in the early 1990s and it comprises of offices and an aircraft maintenance hangar. The existing office windows are part of an aluminum curtain wall framing system designed to allow a controlled amount of water and disperse it through weep holes. Water ingress has been reported and observed through the curtain wall, primarily at the main entrance. Air infiltration caused by improper connections between curtain wall and roof parapet have also been identified, along with functional concerns regarding the front entrance lobby. The hangar portion of the building is in good condition and is not included in this project scope. There are leaks, gaps between the glazing and mullions, and these are impacting the interior of the pace during inclement weather. In the winter, the lack of air sealing was causing pipes to burst as the temperature cannot be maintained within the entrance of the building. The windows of the office portion of the building have been having issues with leakage for the past years. The site investigation revealed the framing systems is not completely sealed, there are insufficient weep holes for drainage and joints between glazings require new sealant. The scope of the project is to replace and/or repair the front entrance curtain wall system, the entrance canopy, and the roof parapet.
