As of October 5, 2023, an architect has been selected and this project is in the design phase. Although a firm timeline for construction has not been determined, construction is not expected to start prior to January 2024. *The closed solicitation has been included below for reference: The City invites all interested parties to submit their qualifications for architectural, engineering, landscape architectural, surveying, permitting, environmental, cost estimating and/or all related services for this project. The City is specifically looking for a consultant team with experience in Public Library design who will involve the public and city staff during the design process, with a focus on equity and inclusion. Disadvantaged, minority and women-owned consultant firms are encouraged to respond. The Consultant performing the work is expected to provide services including, but not limited to: development of concept design to final construction documents (plans, specifications, cost estimates, and permitting), stormwater site plan to satisfy state and local regulations, and geotechnical expertise relating to erosion, seismic, and all hazard areas, as well as all other project requirements. CLARIFICATION DEADLINE 1/17/2023 4:00 PM The renovation of the existing Bellingham Public Library at 210 Central Avenue includes, but is not limited to: HVAC electrification, renovation of the ground floor, renovation of the main floor entrance, redesign of the existing help desk on the main floor to improve security and staff safety, renovation of the upper floor, and upgrades to the exterior / esthetic qualities of the building and landscaping.
