Okaw Valley CUSD 302 is seeking qualified bids for asbestos abatement work at the Okaw Valley High School in Bethany and the Middle School in Findlay, Illinois. The work precedes the Okaw Valley 2023 Summer Improvements, which bids under aseparate contract. Bidders shall confirm with the District Office the Superintendent's address before submitting Bids. Bids shall be enclosed in a sealed envelope endorsed "ATTN: Asbestos Abatement Work for Okaw Valley 2023 Summer Improvements. The work includes the removal of +/- 2,500 square feet (SF) of floor tile and mastic at the High School and about 1,800 SF of the same at the Middle School. The Middle School also includes the removal of a small amount of pipe and pipe fitting insulation. Work may begin between May 18th and May 25th, 2023, depending on the number of emergency days used. The Asbestos Abatement Contractor will be under contract with the District, and be paid by same. Not less than the prevailing hourly wage, as determined by the Illinois Department of Labor for Moultrie and Shelby Counties, shall be paid for any part of the work. Bid bonds are not required and bidders shall not discriminate against any employee or applicant for employment because of race, color, creed, or national origin. The successful Bidder shall furnish a Performance Bond and a Labor & Material Payment Bond each in an amount equal to 100% of the contract price. Bonds shall be filed with the School District prior to the successful contractor being issued a Notice to Proceed. The owner reserves the right to waive technicalities or to reject any or all bids. The awarded bid will be accepted under consideration of the School Board. Acceptance will be based on the lowest responsible bidder. The construction period will commence with the date of Notice of Award and shall be substantially complete within 30 consecutive calendar days thereafter.
