SCOPE OF CONTRACT This Scope of Work (SOW) is for repairs to the United States Department of Agriculture Forest Service (FS) floating dock Marine Facilities located within Wrangell Ranger District (WRD). The purpose of this SOW is to secure services to repair various elements of the Wrangell Marine Facility floating docks, including but not limited to piles, abutment, gangway, railings, mooring hardware, floats, and safety upgrades. The work includes but is not limited to piling repair, concrete float repair, addressing dock floatation, installation of a passive cathodic protection system, installing non-slip surfaces, replacing/reattaching various dock components/hardware, replacing wood decking, installing composite curb in place of deteriorated timber curb, metal components cleaning and painting, safety ladder reattaching and improving the fender system. Unless stated otherwise, all materials identified for replacement or repair, shall be in kind. Background The Wrangell Marine Facility is made up of a variety of floating docks. The docks are constructed of various sizes of foam-filled concrete floats connected with timber wales and tie rods and include five covered boat slips and a floating storage warehouse. The top surface of the concrete floats serves as the walking surface for the facility. The docks are secured by 15 steel pipe guide piles. The perimeters of the docks have 5.5 in. x 5.5 in. timber curbs on timber chocks, with mooring hardware mounted to the curbs. There is no fender system at the docks. The facility is accessed via a transition plate with gate from a city-owned floating dock. The water depths at the site vary from 5.8 ft to 11.7 ft relative to Mean Lower Low water and are referenced to Tide Station 9450460 Ketchikan, AK. This facility is typically used by US Forest Service personnel for pedestrian access to the shore and storage of various items. PROJECT LOCATION Wrangell Ranger District is located at 525 Bennett Street, Wrangell, AK 99929. Wrangell is located in Southeast Alaska and is accessible by commercial airline or Alaska Marine Highway Ferry System.
