Site work for a water / sewer project in Fort Morgan, Colorado. Completed plans call for site work for a water / sewer project.
This project generally consists of 5 projects A-E involving the new, relocated and full replacement of sanitary sewer manholes of various depths throughout the City including the replacement of some clay sewer main to PVC of various sizes and reestablishment of service taps. No pre-bid meeting will be held. Questions: All questions regarding this bid should go to Erik Sagel, Wastewater Collection Superintendent at (970) 542-3911. Questions must be in writing and can be e-mailed to erik.sagel@cityoffortmorgan.com. The cut-off date and time for questions is February 22, 2023 at 9:00 a.m. It is the responsibility of the prospective bidders to contact Erik Sagel to verify receipt of questions. Based upon such inquiry, the City may choose to issue an Addendum before and/or after the mandatory pre-bid meeting. The opening will not be a public bid opening as it will be subject to staff review of costs, schedule, options, qualifications, possible short list and/or interviews. Removal of old manhole, precast or brick, and manhole base including the piping and installing new PVC piping and fittings in a "pipethrough" configuration. Pouring new concrete base around installed piping and set new precast manhole to existing grade. Once installed, opening the top of piping within manhole to allow access for sewer maintenance equipment. a. Contractor shall be responsible for asphalt removal and haul off for each manhole and the transport of backfill material and millings to be used as the temporary patch upon completion. Dump site and material will be provided by the City. Final roadway paving will be provided under separate contract. b. The Contractor shall be responsible for excavation, removal and disposal of old manhole and piping and the installation of new piping, manhole, service connections and other applicable appurtenances. c. The Contractor shall be responsible for all applicable traffic control, per MUTCD standards. d. 22 brick and precast manholes ranging in depth between 9 feet and 14 feet deep will be replaced with new precast manholes of the same depth. e. The piping for the invert shall be replaced with PVC of the same size (8" or 10"). The piping configuration will be the same as the manhole removed including straight, 90-degree elbow or wye sweep utilizing PVC push-on fittings in a "pipe-through" installation. A concrete bench shall be installed around the sealed pipe configuration sloping to the midline of the piping. Once the bench is installed the top half of the piping shall be opened up through the entirety of the manhole to allow for maintenance equipment access. f. Piping from manhole invert shall be reconnected to existing piping outside of the manhole within 3 feet utilizing rubber Fernco compression style couplings. g. Sewer service connections previously tapped into the manhole being replaced or within the replacement area shall be re-established onto new mainline piping utilizing a factory wye fitting and reconnecting to existing service piping with appropriate fittings and a rubber Fernco compression style coupling. No taps will be allowed to be connected to the new manhole and tapping saddles will only be allowed on a case-by-case basis. h. Contractor will be responsible for locating and excavating around existing utilities and services located in the excavation area. i. Contractor shall be responsible for necessary flow by-passing and/or temporary stoppages. 2. Project B - Sanitary Sewer Manhole Removals: Removal and elimination of old manhole, precast or brick, and manhole base including the piping and installing new PVC piping in place. a. Contractor shall be responsible for asphalt removal and haul off for each manhole and the transport of backfill material and millings to be used as the temporary patch upon completion. Dump site and material will be provided by the City. Final roadway paving will be provided under separate contract.b. The Contractor shall be responsible for excavation, removal and disposal of old manhole and piping and the installation of new piping, service connections and other applicable appurtenances. c. The Contractor shall be responsible for all applicable traffic control, per MUTCD standards. d. 3 brick and precast manholes ranging in depth between 7 feet and 10 feet deep will be removed and straight PVC piping to be installed in place. e. Will replace 8 inch piping within removed manhole footprint for all but one manhole that requires 25 foot mainline replacement. Piping installed shall be reconnected to existing piping utilizing rubber Fernco compression style couplings. f. Sewer service connections previously tapped into the manhole being removed or within the replacement area shall be re-established onto new mainline piping utilizing a factory wye fitting and reconnecting to existing service piping with appropriate fittings and a rubber Fernco compression style coupling. Tapping saddles will only be allowed on a case-bycase basis. g. Contractor will be responsible for locating and excavating around existing utilities and services located in the excavation area. h. Contractor shall be responsible for necessary flow by-passing and/or temporary stoppages. 3. Project C - New Sanitary Sewer Manholes: Removal of old clay 8 inch mainline and installing new PVC piping and fittings in a "pipe-through" configuration. Pouring new concrete base around installed piping and set new precast manhole to existing grade. Once installed, opening the top of piping within manhole to allow access for sewer maintenance equipment. a. Contractor shall be responsible for asphalt removal and haul off for each manhole and the transport of backfill material and millings to be used as the temporary patch upon completion. Dump site and material will be provided by the City. Final roadway paving will be provided under separate contract. b. The Contractor shall be responsible for excavation, removal and disposal of old piping and the installation of new piping, manhole, service connections and other applicable appurtenances. c. The Contractor shall be responsible for all applicable traffic control, per MUTCD standards. d. 2 precast manholes ranging in depth between 9 feet to 10 feet deep to be installed in location where no manhole currently located. e. The piping for the invert shall be replaced with PVC of the same size (8"). The invert piping configuration will be the same as the existing mainline piping including straight, and wye sweep utilizing PVC push-on fittings in a "pipe-through" installation. A concrete bench shall be installed around the sealed pipe configuration sloping to the midline of the piping. Once the bench is installed the top half of the piping shall be opened up through the entirety of the manhole to allow for maintenance equipment access.f.
