The Public Improvement, upon which bids are requested, generally consists of construction of 665 lineal feet of 12-inch diameter water main, to be located along the east side of Highway 151 from Prairie Avenue to the north side of Prairie Creek in the City of Fairfax. Of the proposed 665 lineal feet of new water main, 240 lineal feet shall be contained within a casing pipe under Prairie Creek which shall be installed using trenchless methods. The 2023 Water Main Extension Under Prairie Creek Project includes all labor, equipment, and materials necessary for the construction of this project. Faithful performance of the contract, in an amount equal to one hundred percent (100%) of the amount of the contract. The bidder's security shall be in the amount of five percent (5%) of the bid and shall be in the form of a cashier's check or a certified check drawn on an FDIC insured bank in Iowa or on an FDIC insured bank chartered under the laws of the United States. The City Council of the City of Fairfax reserves the right to reject any and all bids, to waive informalities and technicalities, and to enter into such contracts as it deems to be in the best interest of the City. The City reserves the right to defer acceptance of any proposal for 60 calendar days after the bids have been received and opened. The Engineer's estimate of probable cost is $360,000.00. A pre-bid conference has not been scheduled for this Project. If any prospective bidder is in doubt as to the true meaning of any parts of the contract documents, the bidder may request an interpretation from the Engineer, in writing, either through mail, fax or email. Questions received less than seven days prior to the date for opening bids may not be answered.
