DeSoto County Board of County Commission is requesting formal bids from qualified Contractors for the DeSoto County King and Baker Drainage System Improvements project. SCOPE: This project is federally funded by the State of Florida Department of Economic Opportunity through the Community Development Block Grant Mitigation Program (CDBG-MIT). The project involves mitigations efforts to overhaul the current decaying King and Baker Drainage System and renew it with a system designed with a longer service life. The existing system includes approximately 3,700 linear feet of 66-inch corrugated metal drainage main line piping, inlet structures and connections of smaller drainage pipes. Two alternatives are proposed for this project: a cured in place pipelining approach and a replacement using reinforced concrete pipe. Contractors may bid one or both alternatives. The County will select the alternative which the County believes serves the best interest of the County. The County also reserves the right to reduce the length of pipe replacement or other bid items to bring the construction cost in line with the grant funding. Substantial Completion shall be complete within ONE HUNDRED EIGHTY (180) calendar days of the notice to proceed. Final Completion shall include an additional THIRTY (30) calendar days for a maximum construction time of TWO HUNDRED TEN (210) calendar days. Substantial Completion shall be defined as all work excluding minor clean up, sod restoration, asphalt striping demobilization, and correction of punch list items from substantial competition walkthrough which can be performed within the period between substantial completion and final completion.
