Site work and new construction of a multi-residential development in Arcadia, Florida. Working plans call for the construction of a multi-residential development; and for site work for a multi-residential development.
As of December 22, 2025, project goes to rebid. No definite date for the rebid. DeSoto County Board of County Commission is requesting formal bids from qualified Contractors for the DeSoto County Tiny Town Homeless Shelter project. GENERAL DeSoto County intends to utilize Federal funding for the development of the DeSoto Cares Homeless Tiny Town located on West Magnolia Street in Arcadia. DeSoto County wishes to contract with a qualified Contractor for this project. The project involves the construction of 8 ADA compliant buildings along with a boardwalk to connect each building and minor utility connections from the existing utilities to the buildings. The Construction Plan Set is final, and all necessary permits have been obtained. MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS Bidders must demonstrate a history of being the Prime Contractor on at least three (3) recent and similar projects. At least one (1) project must be similar to this proposed structure completed within the past seven (7) years for a public entity. The remaining projects must be similar to this type of construction and be within the last ten (10) years. Bidders shall provide the following information for all projects submitted: a. Project name; b. Client (agency) with contact Information for individual responsible for management of the construction contract (name, title, phone number, email address); c. Brief project description; d. Total construction cost (include both original contract amount and sum of change orders); and e. Date project was completed. Failure of a company to submit all the above requested information will be grounds to reject their bid. CONTRACT TIME The County anticipates awarding this contract shortly after bids are due and evaluated, allowing time for Board of County Commission meeting scheduling. It is the intent of the County to construct this project prior to May 1st, 2026. The contractor will be allowed 180 calendar days for Substantial Completion and 20 additional calendar days for final completion (for a total of 200 calendar days). Substantial completed shall be defined as all work excluding sod placement and miscellaneous cleanup. The buildings shall be completely constructed and ready for residents to move in. The purpose of the time between Substantial and Final Completion shall be to allow for County and CEI walkthrough, punch list generation and correction of any deficiencies noted. BASIS OF AWARD The basis of award shall be the lowest responsive/responsible bidder as calculated by the total of all items included in the Base Bid.
