Town of Whitefield NH Request for Proposals Condition Assessment and Renovations of the Whitefield Public Library The Town of Whitefield will be accepting Requests for Proposals through Monday, May 22, 2023, until 4:00 pm from qualified architects and engineering firms to complete a condition assessment, renovation concept, and cost estimate for the Whitefield Public Library. Questions will be accepted until Wednesday, May 10, 2023, at 4:00 pm The Town needs a summary of the present conditions and design cost estimate for a complete rehabilitation of the existing facility along with a facility addition of 2,500-4,000 sqft consisting of two levels (existing basement level to the top of 2012 addition). Desirable Outcomes: o Exterior above-ground structures should be harmonious with the current 1904 building. o Renovation of the existing 1,500 sqft basement should address ADA compliance concerns and accessibility to/from all levels. o Reconfiguration of main-level space for maximum flexibility and patron experience. o Secondary egress to/from the basement level, including lift or elevator to the original ground floor. o Parking expansion (ADA compliant) on the Jefferson Road side of the building. o Full HVAC, including attention to the existing moisture issues. o Standby Generator - Propane o True functional ADA accessibility, including restrooms, on all levels. o Expansion to include flexible multipurpose spaces, consisting of partitions, walls, and separate entry. The meeting space should be directly accessible from the outside and can be locked off from the rest of the library. o Total usable space (basement + addition) should meet the needs of various stakeholders children, families, elderly, unhoused, low income, space for displays and town history Historical Society, artists, small areas (telehealth visits, +-5 people o Integration of technology for computer and internet networks. o Updates to lighting and security systems o Outdoor spaces should be included and designed for easy accessibility from inside, integrating safety/security. This work is being funded by a grant from NH Community Development Finance Authority. There is a budget of not to exceed $27,000 for the project.
