The Public Improvement, upon which bids are requested, generally consists of asphalt milling, pavement patching, curb and gutter replacement, intake replacement and associated work in preparation for HMA overlay by City forces located at fifteen (15) project locations including: Jacolyn Drive NW from Johnson Avenue to Jacolyn Court, Jacolyn Drive NW from Jacolyn Court to Midway Drive, D Avenue NE from 17th Street to 18th Street, Tomahawk Trail SE from Thunderbird Road to dead end, Tomahawk Trail SE from Thunderbird Road to Red Fox Road, Red Fox Road SE from Trail Ridge Road to dead end, Red Fox Road SE from Trail Ridge Road to Bever Avenue, 18th Street SW from 8th Avenue to 10th Avenue, 18th Street SW from 10th Avenue to 13th Avenue, 25th Street Drive SE from Country Club Parkway to 26th Street Drive, 25th Street Drive SE from 26th Street to 2nd Avenue, Devonshire Drive NE from Boyson Road to Crandall Drive, Harold Court SE, Harold Drive SE from 14th Avenue to Bel Air Drive, and 17th Street SE from Park Avenue to Grande Avenue. The Engineer's estimate of probable cost is $3,170,000. Early Start Date: Upon Receipt of Notice to Proceed Late Start Date: 07/24/2023 Milestones: Milestone 1 (August 11, 2023) - Complete work on 18th Street SW from 13th Avenue to 10th Avenue (3012431) and from 10th Avenue to 8th Avenue (3012373) to allow for completion of HMA Overlay by Cedar Rapids Public Works Street Operations Division prior to the start of school. Final Completion: Completion Date - 10/27/2023 Each bidder shall accompany its bid with bid security as defined in Iowa Code Section 26.8, as security that the successful bidder will enter into a contract for the work bid upon and will furnish after the award of contract a corporate surety bond, in a form acceptable to the Jurisdiction, for the faithful performance of the contract, in an amount equal to one hundred percent (100%) of the amount of the contract. The bidder's security shall be in the amount of five percent (5%) of the bid and shall be in the form of a cashier's check or a certified check drawn on an FDIC insured bank in Iowa or on an FDIC insured bank chartered under the laws of the United States; or a certified share draft drawn on a credit union in Iowa or chartered under the laws of the United States; or a bid bond on the form provided in the contract documents executed by a corporation authorized to contract as a surety in the State of Iowa. Bid security, other than said bid bond, shall be made payable to the City of Cedar Rapids. The City Council of the City of Cedar Rapids reserves the right to reject any and all bids, to waive informalities and technicalities, and to enter into such contracts as it deems to be in the best interest of the City. The City reserves the right to defer acceptance of any proposal for 60 calendar days after the bids have been received and opened.
