As of June 6, 2024, this project is in the City's 2024 Budget. No information regarding a design firm has been made available yet. A firm timeline has not yet been established, but funding is allotted for 2024. The goal of the Water Treatment Plant Improvements Project is to address multiple needs. Specifically, the Utility needs to address the deficiencies noted in the WDNR sanitary survey. In 2018 the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (WDNR) completed a sanitary survey of the WTP. The purpose of a sanitary survey is to evaluate the system’s source, facilities, equipment, operation, maintenance, and management as they relate to providing safe drinking water. The WDNR is mandating action on two large components of this project. However, the other needs that will be addressed during this renovation are equally important for the future of the Water Utilities ability to produce safe and sustainable water. The City is actively pursuing opportunities to fund this project. The city has secured one grant that will be used to pay for the generator and is in the process of applying for a low interest loan through the Safe Drinking Water Loan Program (SDWLP). SDWLP offer fixed interest rates on long term loans to help municipalities pay for these projects. SDWLP interest rates are 55% of market value which helps reduce P&I payments and keep the overall project costs lower *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP). A CIP is a financial schedule for short- and long-range projects which is updated regularly. Information listed in the CIP often evolves based on funding availability and the project details, including timeline and value, are subject to change.
