Site work for a bridge / tunnel in Brookline, Vermont. Completed plans call for site work for a bridge / tunnel.
The Town is seeking bids for replacement and remediation of four (4) culverts and related roadway repairs. These Town culverts numbered 9, 10, 28 and 31, all located on Putney Mountain road, require the following work: o Culvert 9: Excavation and installation of two 36 inch by 20 foot long plastic culverts. (Total combined length 40 feet.) Excavation of ledge material will be necessary for this culvert replacement which will require both a hydraulic hammer and an excavator. One or two Ash trees will require removal to improve water flow to the inlet of the new culvert. The Town will supply the culverts. Installation of a concrete header is required on the new culvert inlet. The bid should include both an option for pre-cast concrete header AND an option for a cast-in-place concrete header, with cost specifications for both. On the outlet end of the culvert large armor rock/boulder material is required to stabilize the embankment from the road edge to the bottom of the bank. Size of ditch stone is expected to be approximately 8 inch or greater ditch stone. This rip-rap material on the slope should be 1 foot to 2 feet to the toe of the slope and 100 feet in length. o Culvert 10: This culvert requires a new concrete header to replace the current stone header. The bid should include both an option for pre-cast concrete header AND an option for a cast-in-place concrete header, with cost specifications for both. Gravel material will be required for Culvert 9 installation as well as for increasing the width and length of the current road area surrounding both Culverts 9 and 10. The finished road area is estimated to be a minimum of 20 feet wide and the length to be approximately 100 feet. o Culvert 28: The current 15 inch corrugated metal culvert must be replaced by an 18 inch by 34 foot plastic culvert. Stone headers will be added to the culvert inlet. The Town will supply the culverts. o Culvert 31: The current 15 inch corrugated metal culvert will be replaced by an 18 inch by 34 foot plastic culvert. This culvert is above Culvert 28. The Town will supply the culverts. Putney Mountain Road will be closed during regular working hours for the duration of all repairs. The town of Brookline reserves the right to accept or reject any or all bids that are deemed to be in the best interest of the Town. Insurance documentation must be included with BID.This is a Lump Sum project. There will be no progress payments for the lump sum bid, final payment will be issued after work has been accepted by the Town. GENERAL: All materials and construction shall conform to State of Vermont Agency of Transportation Standard Specifications for Construction 2018, and its latest revisions, and the AASHTO Standard Specifications for Highway Bridges, 17 bEdition, dated 2002 and its latest revisions. o This project will be developed and administered by the Town of BrooklineContinuous communications will be maintained between the Town, the Project Manager and Contractor. o The Contractor will be responsible for coordinating with the Utility Company if necessary. Utility poles will not be relocated during construction. All woody debris generated by the project will become the property of the Contractor and must be disposed of off-site. o Putney Mountain Road will be closed to traffic during working hours for this project. Proposals shall indicate the intended schedule, steps and tasks, material quantity and types, that are proposed by the contractor, and shall contain a cost estimate for the proposed services and materials. The Town may waive any informalities, technicalities, minor defects or reject any and all Proposals if in its sole judgement the best interests of the Town will be served. Any proposal received after the time and date specified shall not be considered.
