This project will design and install pump stations and force mains to extend the Southwest Sewer District #3 eastward into the Sayville area. The flow will pass westward through Oakdale to the Bergen Point sewage treatment plant. The Department's request included three phases for the project, described below, while the proposed capital program breaks down the project differently (included in parenthesis). Phase I is for the collection system, pump station, and force main for the Oakdale area west of Vanderbilt Avenue, including the Idle Hour area and Shore Drive, bordered on the west by the CP 8106 402 Connetquot River (See CP 8504). (Described as Phase 1A and assigned to CP 8504 in the proposed capital program.) Phase II will address Oakdale areas east of Vanderbilt Avenue to the east edge of Ludlow's Creek. (Described as Phase 1B in the proposed capital program.) Phase III will address remaining areas in Sayville and West Sayville from Sunrise Highway in the north to the Great South Bay in the south, past Broadway Avenue to the edge of Lotus Lake in the east. (Described as Phases 2 to 5 in the proposed capital program.) As of April 24, 2024, this project is currently in Suffolk County's FY 2024-2026 CIP. Information regarding a design team and the contractor selection has not been disclosed. A firm timeline for construction has not been established. *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP).
