Site work and paving for a mixed-use development in Shaker Heights, Ohio. Conceptual plans call for site work for a playground / park / athletic field; sidewalk / parking lot; and for paving for a sidewalk / parking lot.

As of October 23, 2023, an engineer has been selected for the project. Bidding is estimated to take place in February/March of 2024 and construction is estimated for April of 2024. *The closed solicitation has been included below for reference: The City of Shaker Heights is seeking proposals from a team of qualified professional engineers and landscape architects to engineer detailed design plans, construction drawings, bid documents, and environmental documents, if needed, for the Lower Lake Multipurpose Trail, a new 10' wide asphalt, multi-purpose trail approximately .44 miles in length, located between Lower Lake and South Park Boulevard in Shaker Heights. The Lower Lake Multipurpose Trail will provide a paved, safe means of accessible, non-motorized transportation and recreational trails along South Park Boulevard and south of Lower Lake, while filling the gap in the cycling and pedestrian network for those who require or prefer an off-road trail by connecting the eastern and western portions of the Shaker parklands. All teams must include a licensed civil engineer and a registered landscape architect. The anticipated construction budget is $327,975, primarily from Ohio Department of Natural Resources funds, and will be used for construction in 2024. The attached maps illustrate the likely trail location in the City of Shaker Heights. The selected consultant shall be responsible for all elements of the Scope of Work until successful completion and final acceptance by the City. The scope of work for the Lower Lake Multipurpose Trail will include, at a minimum, the items listed below. Throughout the design phase, the consultant shall work closely with staff from the Planning, Recreation and Public Works Departments to identify the appropriate locations for trail amenities and the exact trail layout. Coordination may be needed in conjunction with the redesign of the Lower Lake Dam. The exact number and nature of check-in meetings will be determined as the project proceeds.
