Site work for a mixed-use development in Brownstown Township, Michigan. Completed plans call for site work for a educational facility.
No oral, telephonic, telegraphic or facsimile proposals will be accepted. No proposals will be accepted after the time of closing of bids. Owner reserves the right to reject any and all bids and to waive omissions, irregularities or clerical errors not affecting the compliance with the plans and specifications. All purchases are to be exempt from all taxes, including state and federal taxes. Exemption certificates will be furnished upon request. Bids shall be firm for ninety (90) days from the date of the bid opening. Bids must be submitted on the attached bid form and be signed by the bidder. Two (2) signed copies of the bid form should be addressed to the attention of: (Joe Nickell) (Huron School District) (32044 Huron River Drive) (New Boston Michigan 48164) " Fencing Bid" Questions should be referred to Joe Nickell, Maintenance Director, at 734 -294-7343. SPECIFICATIONS 1.1 Specifications and plans are the minimum accepted standard. Alternates will be accepted for evaluation only. The primary bid shall be as specified in these documents. 1.2 The Board of Education reserves the right to accept or reject any or all bids, to waive any informalities therein, or to award the contract to other than the lowest bidder, which is in the best interest of the District. We reserve the right to delay the opening of bids. 1.3 Contractor shall submit appropriate documents of insurance (Certificates of Acord): Worker's Compensation $100,000; Liability $300,000; coverage pertaining to vehicles, property damage and public liabilities, personal injury, etc., and shall hold the school district harmless in any incident involving the contractor, his employees, his equipment, and vehicles. 1.4 Bidders must visit the building area and familiarize themselves with the scope of the project. Project location is: Brown Elementary, 25485 Middlebelt Rd. New Boston, Michigan, 48164 and Huron High School, 32044 Huron River Drive New Boston, Michigan, 48164 1.5 The contractor shall submit a list of three (3) references complete with names, address, phone number and a contact person which will allow the Owner to verify ability to meet the terms of this document. 1.6 The contractor shall provide items of a minor nature, not specifically noted in these specifications, so as to provide a complete and Owner acceptable installation. 1.7 Approval of the contract is expected at the August 28, 2023 board meeting. Following award of the contract, work may commence on or after 8-28-2023 and must be completed before 10-14-2023. 1.8 The contractor shall be responsible for locating underground electrical lines, conduit prior to the start of the work. 1.9 Contractor shall be responsible for compliance with all local, state and federal codes for the storage, handling and disposing of materials. - SCOPE OF WORK: The proposed work will take place in three locations within the Huron School District. A. Area 1 of the work located at Brown Elementary located at 25485 Middlebelt Rd. New Boston. The contractor shall provide, all materials, equipment, labor and supervision necessary to perform the installation of 1000 liner feet of 72"x2" x 9-gauge galvanized chain link fence with top rail, one 72" gate and windscreen. B. Area 2 is located on the main campus Athletic field located at 32044 Huron River Drive New Boston. The contractor shall remove 120' of the portion of existing fence and relocate approximately 10'and reuse as much as possible of the existing fencing fabric and top rails to reinstall. C. Area 3 is located at the varsity softball field located at 32044 Huron River Drive New Boston. The contractor shall remove 200'of existing 72" high fence and relocate approximately 10'and reuse as much as possible of the existing fence fabric and top rails 2.1- Materials specifications: 2.2 All vertical pipes will be covered with galevised pipe caps. 2.3 Fencing materials shall be steel construction. All corner, gate and line posts will be Allied SS40 or equivalent product. Top rail will be Allied SS-20 or equivalent product. 2.4 Minimum component specifications: A. Fabric:72" Hight. Minimum 9- gauge galvanized steel. Knuckle selevage top and bottom. B. Top rail 1.66" O.D C. Line post 2.38" O.D D. Corner/ End post 2.90 O. D E. 72 "Pedestrian gate. F. Windscreen fabric shall be a solid color 100% knitted polyethylene/open mesh 60" height. G. 85% opacity. H. Minimum weight 5.1 oz per-square yard I. Tensile strength: 300 x 205 J. Fabrication: 3 ply, reinforced hems on all sides with #2 brass grommets placed in 2'intervals. K. Any fencing with windscreen shall be installed with posts having 12"x48" concrete footings. L. Any posts that are mechanically driven shall be driven a minimum of 5' M. Any materials needed for the reinstall of existing fencing shall match existing fence. N. Maximum span between line post shall be 10'.
