Goddard Space Flight Centers Wallops Flight Facility operates two public drinking water systems. A community waterworks located on the Main Base and a Non-Transient, Non-Community water system located on Wallops Island. Both systems utilize liquid sodium hypochlorite for disinfection and are currently operating with a single chlorine injection point to chlorinate raw well water prior to a ground- based water storage tank. The water systems are also coupled with extensive fire suppression systems and water age is an operational issue with the current chlorination systems. The current chlorination systems have also experienced several failures and require updating and renovation to eliminate failure points. NASA is seeking services provide installation and commissioning of equipment for improvements for a public drinking water systems. The purpose of this project is to upgrade the existing chlorination station and chlorine monitoring and to upgrade the existing chlorination equipment for the Wallops Island drinking water system. The chlorination stations will facilitate the disinfection of water to ensure the delivery of safe drinking water to the public and help reduce the formation of disinfection byproducts through improvements to the chlorine dosing control.
