This project includes various improvements to improve multimodal crossing safety at the existing at-grade railroad crossing on Orcutt Road near the Orcutt Road/Laurel Lane/Bullock Lane intersection. Proposed improvements include sign/striping enhancements, installation of standard width shared-use paths across both sides of the railroad tracks, installation of pedestrian/bicycle warning devices/flashers, and extension of narrow center median on Orcutt between Sacramento Street and existing median at railroad crossing. Improvements are required by Union Pacific Railroad to allow completion of Railroad Safety Trail gap closure in Orcutt Area. This project is included in the City of San Luis Obispo's FY 2023-2028 Capital Improvement Plan (CIP).
