The University's Heating Plant uses a Pressure Reducing Control Valve which provides a back up to the steam turbine generator with respect to flow capacity. The valve is worn out and requires immediate replacement and upgrading. It is critical for the valve to be installed and operational for winter operations just in case the turbine trips. Without a timely replacement, the risk to the University central heating steam is significant. Failure of the generator during cold weather, without sufficient reducing valve capacity, would result in the shutdown of two hospitals and the North Campus. Performance Valve Services is the only supplier able to deliver the valve on time. The estimated contract period will be 3 month(s), with a proposed start date of 2023/09/01.
