Renovation of an educational facility in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Completed plans call for the renovation of a educational facility.
**As of October 25, 2023 project was awarded to Proficio Consultancy, Inc but awarded amount is not available.** The University of Minnesota West Central Research and Outreach Center (WCROC) is located in Morris, MN and focuses on five areas of research: Agronomy and Soil Science, Dairy, Horticulture, Swine and Renewable Energy. The primary goal of the renewable energy program at WCROC is to increase utilization of renewable energy in production agriculture and support further development of agriculture-based renewable energy for the region, state and nation through research and outreach. The agricultural industry consumes an immense amount of fossil-fuel in the production of food, feed, fiber, and energy. This can carry significant economic, environmental and ecological risks. Scientists and engineers at the WCROC have been looking at ways to mitigate these risks and exploit opportunities for agricultural producers and other stakeholders. We are currently pursuing a Greening of Ag Initiative, with the overall objective of reducing fossil-fuel consumption in agricultural production systems through renewable energy generation, energy conservation, and energy optimization of production systems. Our goal is to conduct research and develop results that guide producers in developing energy optimized systems for their farms. These outcomes are primarily for Minnesota farmers, but may also apply to farmers in the global community. Within this initiative, the WCROC is developing a one ton per day renewable ammonia production facility located at the Renewable Hydrogen and Ammonia Pilot Plant. The facility will produce hydrogen from water electrolysis, nitrogen from air separation, and combine the hydrogen and nitrogen over a wide pressure and temperature range testing based on a catalytic ammonia convertor. Testing will also be performed on separation of ammonia from the production loop using two different methods: Conventional separation by condensation at low temperature and advanced separation based on absorbents at high temperature. Power for the process will come from a utility scale wind turbine and thus the ammonia produced will be green. This green ammonia will be used as a fertilizer for crops or a fuel in different power generation systems. Site development and integration of equipment will be required to successfully complete this project. The scope includes one additional enclosure to be built. Refer to attached as-built drawings for existing building. Deadline for RFP Questions September 18, 2023 at Noon Design-Build Services for an Ammonia Production Facility for the West Central Research and Outreach Center. Refer to the Request for Proposal documents (found in the Attachments tab) for full project details/requirements. Respondents are prohibited from contacting the identified department about this RFP while in process. Before submitting questions about the rfp via the questions tab, read and review the rfx instructions, requirements, and rights reserved by the university document and all attributes in the attributes tab. These provide valuable information and address frequently asked questions. Remember to submit your response, including attachments, early to allow time to correct errors. The submission deadline is a hard close. The system will reject responses with errors and will NOT allow late submissions. Under the Contract, the University will pay the Respondent's compensation consisting exclusively of the lesser of the Guaranteed Maximum Price or the sum of (1) Pre-Construction Phase Services Fee, (2) the Cost of the Work and (3) the Construction Fee. Section B2 of the Contract, "Costs to be Reimbursed," lists items that are reimbursable as a "Cost of the Work" during the construction phase. Section B3 of the Contract lists items that are specifically not reimbursable. Anticipated Authorization to Proceed October 12, 2023
